John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado that specialized in folk-pop music touched the hearts of millions. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in love with Colorado and later relocated to Aspen. A few beat a path through Colorado after hearing Denver's popular songs for his home state. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame, said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. Today, he is Colorado's international image. When I travel, you will meet people on opposite sides of the planet. As an example, you might meet people from New Zealand. And when you say that you are originally from Colorado the response is "Oh John Denver!" Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career as a folk musician, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff composed the song for Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single the moment he heard it for the first time. The track was released just two weeks following that Washington D.C. performance.
